Scarifying

Scarifying is the process of removing the thatch layer under your lawn. Thatch is the layer of dead vegetation between the soil and green leaf blades. A thick build-up of thatch will create a spongey feel to your lawn making it difficult to mow and prevent air and water reaching your soil.

Thatch continues to build-up over time and if left unchecked can eventually prevent your grass roots from reaching the soil.
